World cyberattack: Renault and Nissan in the eye of the hurricane

Eric Béziat, a journalist for Le Monde, shows us the consequences facing Renault and Nissan as a result of the latest worldwide cyber attack. A ransomware known as WannaCry pushed french automaker Renault to partially or completely shut down several of its plants in France, Slovenia and Spain over the weekend. The spokeman for Renault explained that these are proactive measures of protection to avoid pollution, and ensured the opening of all factories on Monday May 15. The gigantic Nissan factory in Sunderland was also affected. On the other hand, the co-founder of a cybersecurity company in Lyon, Laurent Hausermann, consulted by Le Monde, says that the industrial companies are more vulnerable to this type of attacks because of outdated versions of operating systems.
